LHU students’ AI project recognized at the Intel AI Global Impact Festival

The project “Your Voice”, developed by a lecturer and students from LHU, continues to make its mark on the global technology landscape after being honored at the Intel AI Global Impact Festival, a forum that brings together innovative artificial intelligence solutions aimed at addressing community challenges worldwide.

Outperforming more than 1,000 projects from 33 countries, the LHU student team was among a select group recognized by Intel

Beyond reflecting academic excellence, the achievement highlights LHU students’ research capability, creativity, and ability to apply technology to solve real-world social issues within a practice-oriented educational environment.

The value behind a “Made-in-Campus” technology project

At the conclusion of the event, Ms. Sarah E. Kemp - Vice President for International Government Affairs at Intel met directly with the project team to learn more about their AI-based solution designed to support people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Developed with a human-centered approach, “Your Voice” uses artificial intelligence models to enhance communication and improve access to information for underserved communities.

Notably, according to Ms. Sarah E. Kemp, Intel received more than 1,000 project submissions from 33 countries, and the LHU team was among the few outstanding teams selected for recognition. This accomplishment demonstrates the international competitiveness of Vietnamese students in emerging technology fields, particularly in areas that require interdisciplinary thinking and practical implementation skills.

Beyond recognition, Intel also awarded the project team three high-performance laptops. The team includes lecturer Bui Xuan Canh from the Faculty of Information Technology, student Hoang Gia Huy (Information Technology major), and student Vi Hoai Thuong (E-commerce major). These laptops are designed to support the development of advanced AI models in fields such as Computer Vision and Deep Learning, including techniques like Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). The award also serves as an important source of motivation for the team to further refine their product and expand research into AI applications that serve the community.

Speaking at the event, DSc. Huynh Cao Tuan, Vice Rector of LHU, expressed appreciation for Intel’s support and partnership in promoting research and innovation among the University’s lecturers and students. According to him, opportunities for students to engage with global technology enterprises during their studies play a vital role in shaping research thinking, strengthening international working capabilities, and preparing them for the high-tech labor market.

“Your Voice” more than just a technology project

The success of “Your Voice” also reflects the educational approach pursued by LHU, encouraging students to participate in real-world projects, strengthening applied research capacity, and fostering strong connections with technology enterprises. Rather than focusing solely on theoretical knowledge, students are encouraged to develop practical products, address social challenges, and participate in international academic platforms while still at university.

In addition to the recognition ceremony, the team’s visit to Intel’s advanced manufacturing facility in Ho Chi Minh City opened up new prospects for collaboration between the University and industry partners in the future, particularly in technology workforce training, AI research, and professional skill development for students.

With “Your Voice”, LHU students have not only created a meaningful technology project but also contributed to showcasing a generation of young Vietnamese innovators who are dynamic, creative, and ready to meet global standards through knowledge and technology.
