Affirming training quality through faculty engagement in international research

As higher education undergoes rapid internationalization, scientific research has increasingly become a core pillar in affirming training quality. At LHU, this strategic direction is being clearly realized through impressive initial achievements in the international research activities of its faculty and staff.

Faculty achieving a 100% approval rate in international research

In its first participation in the research funding program of Cintana Education, all of LHU's international research proposals were approved, achieving a 100% approval rate. This result not only reflects strong academic preparation but also demonstrates the growing maturity of the University’s faculty in meeting international research standards.

Outstanding principal investigators in the Cintana Education research funding program

The impact of LHU’s international research is evident through its principal investigators across diverse academic disciplines. Notably, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh – Vice Rector of LHU, in his role as a faculty member, has demonstrated strong expertise in environmental and sustainable energy research. His project, “Fast Renew Asia: Comparative Feasibility Assessment of Solid Waste-to-Energy Systems in Dong Nai (Vietnam) and Yapral (India)”, highlights a research direction that is not only scientifically significant but also offers practical solutions to environmental challenges in rapidly developing urban areas.

In 2025, LHU became a comprehensive strategic partner of Arizona State University (USA), enabling its faculty to quickly access and engage with Cintana Education’s research funding programs

In the field of biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences, Dr. Tran Ngoc Kim Cuong and MSc. Tran Thi Huong (Faculty of Pharmacy) are young lecturers with strong research orientation and the ability to adopt advanced approaches in systems biology. Their project, “Proteome-Constrained Modelling Reveals Metabolic Synthetic Lethality in Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer”, demonstrates their capacity to contribute to cutting-edge research directions and to the rapidly advancing field of precision medicine worldwide.

Expanding international research through multinational collaboration

Beyond independent studies, LHU’s international research activities are further expanded through multinational collaborative projects. A notable example is Dr. Tran Ngoc Kim Cuong’s continued collaboration with MSc. Vo Le Anh Thu in a joint project with Indonesian partners. The project, “Real-World Outcomes and Economic Burden among Indonesian Hemophilia Patients with Inhibitors under Limited Access to Optimal Therapy", focuses on evaluating treatment outcomes and the economic burden faced by hemophilia patients under limited access to optimal therapies.

At the same time, Dr. Le Tien Loc (Faculty of Mechatronics and Electronics), whose strengths lie in technology and energy, has initiated a collaborative research project with Indian partners on the design of bio-inspired photovoltaic cells using lotus plants. The project, “Design of Nelumbo Nucifera-based Photovoltaic Cells for Harvesting Maximum Solar Irradiance”, aims to optimize solar energy absorption.

The proactive involvement of LHU faculty as principal investigators and co-investigators in international projects reflects a clear advancement in research capacity and academic integration. These achievements not only represent individual accomplishments but also serve as strong evidence of the University’s strategic focus on developing a research-driven, internationally oriented faculty.

From an educational perspective, LHU’s international research initiatives bring direct value to students. Learners gain access to up-to-date knowledge, study in environments closely linked to real-world research projects, and have opportunities to participate in international academic activities. When faculty members are actively engaged in addressing global scientific challenges, the quality of education is reinforced by their expertise and practical experience.

LHU’s international research is not merely an initial achievement but is steadily evolving into a strategic foundation for enhancing training quality. With a proactive, capable, and clearly oriented faculty, the University is progressively strengthening its position within the global higher education landscape.
