    The start-up idea from students won the national second prize

    In the evening of December 26, 2017, Lac Hong University won the second prize at the final of the 2017 National Startup Contest with the project entitled “A company organizing events and supplying human resources from students and cadres of Youth Union – Association in Dong Nai Province” conducted by a group of students including Vo Van Manh Em (Faculty of Chemical and Environmental Engineering), Nguyen Cao Anh Tuan; Nguyen Duy Quang, Nguyen Minh Huu and Duong Cam Bau (Faculty of Administration and International Economics). 

    The final took place in excitement at the Banking Academy (Hanoi) with the competition of the 6 most impressive projects.

    LHU students received the second prize in the contest

    National startup – “a fierce race”

    The contest was the most important content in a series of activities in the Startup Program  organized by Business Forum Newspaper under the direction of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). This activity has been spreading and developing throughout the country and has been enthusiastically welcomed and participated by a large number of young people and students. Accordingly, the startup wave has received strong support, and thousands of startup businesses were established.

    According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, General Secretary of VCCI - the organizer, it is worth noticing that the 2017 Startup Contest continues to become a fiercely competitive race among economic and agricultural - forestry schools across the country.

    Taking part in the contest and implementing in practice at the same time

    The Startup Contest in 2017 had 159 projects which were screened from more than 500 projects as well as the business ideas of 1.200 participants at the school and regional level and were nominated to participate in the national Startup Contest. After 4 cross-marking times divided into 2 rounds, the organizers selected 6 out of 159 projects with the highest scores to be in the final. Of the projects in the final, the one conducted by LHU students is one of the two projects that are being implemented in practice and has initially achieved success.

    VCCI stated that the aim of project 166 is that in 2020 100% of universities and institutes have at least 02 students’ ideas and startup projects supported from appropriate funds or connected with the businesses and venture capital funds. Therefore, launching and implementing startup activities in university are very important.

    LHU inspires startup movement among students

    Making great efforts to bring lecturers and students of LHU closer to the startup movement, Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and International Economics, received the honor and gratitude from the organizers for his contribution to the contest. Also, thanks to his enthusiasm, at the end of 2016, LHU was honored to be the first educational institution in the Southeast region to achieve four “best” things in the National Startup Program.

    • The fastest institution to implement the startup program in the region.
    • The institution having the largest number of students participating most seriously.
    • The institution having the most trained academic staff.
    • The fastest institution to establish the startup club.

    Dr. Nguyen Van Tan received the honor of the organizer for supporting the competition and orienting startup projects for LHU students.

    The year 2017 continues to be called the National Startup Year with many new startup policies being enacted. Responding to the startup spirit of the youth throughout the country, the startup club of LHU bravely operates in the framework of the whole university and attracted a large number of students participating. Thereby, it creates a startup wave among students from small business projects after school to daring ideas of establishing companies together.  Among those projects, there are remarkable ones such as Moringa juice, Maternity and child care at home, A company organizing events and supplying human resources from students and cadres of Youth Union – Association in Dong Nai Province, etc. From the aforementioned, the year 2018 promises to have many potential ideas and projects from LHU’s students.
